After over a year as a volunteer editor with LitPick, I’ve now become a book reviewer as well. LitPick recently opened up their review offer to adult reviewers, and I’ve taken advantage of their program. My first review is of the middle grade book, Meena Meets Her Match.
Meena is about a young girl who loves collecting trash, creating works of art, and making her world colorful. However, a recent health scare leads Meena to a world of ambulance rides, doctor visits, and constant worrying about what is going on inside her body.
I’m so glad that I get to pick the books that I review on this site. It gives me a better chance of liking the books that I read. This is especially a relief because I don’t like to post negative reviews of books. I don’t feel like they do anyone any good.
Reading a bad review rarely discourages me from reading a book that interests me, but reading a good review may cause me to read or watch something that might not have come up on my radar. Plus, it’s just bad karma for one writer to bash another writer’s work. Luckily, this was not a problem with this book. Not to brag, but I finished this 180 page, elementary school-level, illustrated opus in just a few short hours and had a lot of fun with it.
Here you can read my first review, Meena Meets Her Match.
