Why did you start your blog?

I’ve started one too many blogs to count over the years and my motivation was wanting to share my interests and things I was passionate about. Coming from a legal professional background, I wanted to have a creative outlet that would allow me to showcase aspects of my personality and my life with the online world. In the beginning, I didn’t think anyone would ever actually read my blog- I just enjoyed the process of creating! I don’t believe that my intentions have changed but I’ve become more exposed to the opportunities that come with blogging thus motivating me to take it even more seriously than ever before.

How long did it take to set up your blog?

A lot longer than necessary, in my opinion. The hardest part was coming up with a name and committing to a design and color scheme. I envy people who are talented with themes and all the little details- I was so stressed out! I knew what I wanted to write about, but I had a vision of how I wanted to put it all together. The hardest part was bringing that vision to life and translating it to a web page.

How often do you post on your blog? Do you schedule posts in advance?

I try to post at least once a week or once every other week. Because I’m not a full-time blogger, it is sometimes hard to juggle all my commitments and stick to a consistent schedule but it’s something I’m working on improving. I wish I could batch write but I get inspired at random, so scheduling posts doesn’t ever work out for me.

Do you have a writing ritual or any odd habits or superstitions?

I always brainstorm in the notes section on my phone- I can’t think/create and write on paper. Once I’ve finished writing a post, I never post it on the same day. I always come back to it a day or two later to edit it and make any final changes before I post.

How well do you handle criticism?  Do you ever use that criticism to change your blog?

As a person I am naturally hard on myself and I believe that I am my biggest critic. With that being said, hearing criticism from other people is a different story. Its harder to digest things when they come from other people, even if there’s some truth to them. Though I wouldn’t change how I blog, I consider the not so positive things I hear and try to find the good in them. Sometimes people want to give advice, but their execution is poor.

‘What If’ Scenarios

Your blog becomes one of the most popular blogs on the Internet. What do you do next?

I think I’d write a book. I’ve always wanted to write a book, even as a child. I think I’d condense some of my content and tell story. The idea of having my name on a book and being able to call myself an author is incredible!

An assistant offers to work for you for free indefinitely. What do you have them do?

I would have them take my pictures! Haha currently my husband takes my pictures and some of them are random photos that I edit to fit my blog. I cannot afford a photographer so that would be amazing!

You have the time and energy to write another blog. What is it about?

A cooking/food blog! I’m always trying out new recipes and I really enjoy cooking and creating in the kitchen. I always tell my husband that if we could afford it, I would just stay home and cook all day!

Just For Fun

One year of your life you’d like to do over.

None. As cliché as is sounds, every experience I’ve lived has brought me to this very moment and I wouldn’t have it any other way. But if you’re twisting my arm, maybe one of my high school years. I wish I had gone to my prom.

One bucket list item you’ve completed and one that’s still on your list.

Travel to Europe, check! I really want to go to Bali or Thailand next.

Favorite band, musical artist, or genre/era of music.

It really depends on my mood but currently dvsn, Khalid and J. Cole

Food you’d like to win a lifetime supply of.

I have an unhealthy obsession with French fries!

Your favorite podcast.

I have two favorites right now- The Elevation Church podcast and the Goal Digger podcast. I listen to them religiously on my commute to and from work.

Your most unrealistic dream job.

Bed/mattress tester. I could stay in bed and sleep all day if my life depended on it, honestly.

Favorite Halloween costume ever.

I was the Joker 6 years ago, green hair and all! The day of the Halloween party, I went shopping last minute at a thrift store and its like everything I needed to put the costume together was right there.
