Whistling Kettle Summer Iced Teas Banner

I consume content, particularly screen content, seasonally. Each season has certain shows, movies, and vlogs that I love to watch to match the weather outside and the general atmosphere at that time of year.

Summer is no exception. However, because I’m not always trapped indoors, I can take my viewing sessions outside if I want.

I also tend to switch from hot tea to iced tea at this time of year. That meant checking out some new flavors from The Whistling Kettle.

Below are three flavors of iced tea that The Whistling Kettle is offering as part of their summer 2025 selection. I’ve paired each one with a summer screening experience, both of which have helped to enhance my summer evenings.

Medicine Ball and summer TV shows

Medicine ball and TV

Medicine ball is a green tea that contains spearmint, apple pieces, rose hips, lemon grass, pineapple and peach pieces, chamomile flowers, lemon verbena, orange, and marigold flowers. One teaspoon makes an eight-ounce glass, and it is brewed at 190 degrees Fahrenheit for five minutes.

The tea is recommended for when you’re not feeling well. And let’s face it, Covid and other illnesses are still prevalent in the summer months, but we don’t always remember to prep for those summer illnesses. So, it’s a good time to load up in advance of those sore throat days.

The medicine ball tea has a grassy look to it with pieces of apple mixed in. The spearmint smell is prevalent when you open the bag, but it’s not overpowering for those who aren’t big mint fans, though I admittedly am.

I dumped the entire sample bag into my trusty iced tea maker and was careful not to brew more than two quarts. I also used the strongest setting since it was a green tea with a lot of light flavors to it.

The tea brewed to a very light yellow color, giving it almost a lemonade shade. When brewed, it really brought the lemon scent out.

A taste test found that it has a cool mint flavor with a flowery aftertaste. It wasn’t bitter, even without sweetener. It also wasn’t overpowering. Medicine ball felt like the kind of tea you could infuse other flavors into, such as fresh fruit or even mix with a black tea to add strength and a more powerful flavor to it.

I felt like this tea paired perfectly with a rainy summer day binge-watching a nostalgic summer show. So, I cut up a bowl of fruit, put on season 3 of Stranger Things, their summer vacation season, and spent a stormy night eating and drinking a guilt-free snack and beverage while watching our heroes save their town from monsters and zombies.

Tranquil Peach and YouTube travel vlogs

Tranquil peach and YouTube

Tranquil peach is a blend of apple, peach, and pineapple pieces, rose hips, lemon verbena, and chamomile flowers. One teaspoon makes an eight-ounce glass which is brewed at 212 degrees Fahrenheit for five to 10 minutes.

Tranquil peach is caffeine free. So, it’s perfect to drink at night or after you’ve already had your fill of caffeine for the day but don’t want to settle for plain old water.

Tranquil peach has the look of a trail mix with dried fruits and flowers. The lemon and peach smells are instantly released when the package is torn open.

The tea brews to a dark yellow color and maintains its peachy lemon scent. The first taste was a subtle peach flavor that was enhanced when sweetened. There is no aftertaste. It comes across as more of an infused water that feels healthy and hydrating.

I paired this tea with a night of binge watching travel vlogs on YouTube via my laptop with a bowl of popcorn nearby. The tea actually expertly combatted the salty and sweet flavors of the popcorn and didn’t leave me feeling super thirsty afterward as I typically do when eating a salty after dinner snack.

The subtle peach flavor gave it a tropical feel. So, it made me want to watch videos of travel vloggers visiting the beach on a humid, cloudy day in my hometown. It really transported me.

This peach too can be paired with other flavors to make it stronger or create a base for different combinations of teas. I highly recommend it if you’re looking for a peach tea that doesn’t feel artificial or rely on its sweeteners to taste good.

Back porch blend and outdoor movies on the projector

back porch blend and outdoor movie

Back porch blend is a black tea with rooibos, honeybush, green rooibos, lemon peel, white cornflowers, calendula petals, lemongrass, coconut, and powdered sugar. One teaspoon makes one eight-ounce glass and is brewed at 212 degrees for three to five minutes.

This tea is said not to be too heavy on the caffeine. However, it should give you a boost for a late night of watching movies.

Back porch blend has an earthy look to it. The coconut smell is the dominant scent, and it maintains this scent after it’s brewed.

The tea itself brews into a classic brownish black tea color. It looks so much darker than the other two flavors but really is more on the lighter side compared to regular black iced teas.

The tea has a coconut flavor to it with a powdered sugar aftertaste. It was a strange, yet welcoming combination that felt like drinking a dessert without the regret that later comes from eating too much sugar. This was definitely my favorite tea of the bunch thanks to the combination of classic and unique flavors.

I felt that the only appropriate place to sample this tea was on my back patio. I also busted out the projector and played a movie on the white vinyl siding on the back of my house. I opted for a summer classic, Now and Then, which is also a unique combination of mystery, drama, and comedy that works so well together, just like this tea.
