Talking Shop
Why did you start your blog?
I started blogging and set up Fadima Mooneira in 2010. I first set up my blog to sell my handmade accessories – which I’m no longer doing. But I might start designing and selling accessories again in the future. Who knows? I never thought to take blogging seriously at that time. But later, I fell in love with blogging. That’s why I continue to blog.
How long have you been writing?
Since I was 11 years old. I first started writing in my journal and created my own magazine base on my imagination ^_^ I love writing. Writing is the best way for me to express myself and share my imaginations with others.
Do you write anything other than blog posts?
Yes. I am now pursuing my career as an author. Besides writing in my blog, I contributed some articles to other websites and collaborated with other authors in freelance writing projects.
Last year, I collaborated with Pn. Sri Diah (my mentor and one of Malaysia’s famous novelists) and 17 other authors in writing a book titled, Sahabat (Friends in Bahasa Malaysia). Sahabat is a book of short stories about friendship. In Sahabat, I wrote a story titled “KDK – Kawan Dari Kecil (Friends From Childhood Days).” The book was launched last March.
During this isolation, I collaborated with Puan Sri Diah again and 40 other authors on another freelance writing project. The book will be call Legasi Emak, and it will launch soon. The date hasn’t been confirmed yet.
Right now, I am also writing my second novel and trying to get my first novel published. So please pray for me. Being a novelist is something I always wanted.
Do you have any other talents or hobbies that relate to your blogging?
Besides writing and blogging, I also love drawing. Drawing is another way for me to express myself and share my imaginations with others. I even used my artworks as a decoration for my blog. That’s how I relate my drawing passion with my blogging passion. My artworks can be seen on my blog or artist IG Please feel free to visit, show some love, and follow.
I am also looking for an opportunity to work/collaborate with children’s storybook writers. If there are any children’s story book writers looking for an illustrator, I am here to work with you. ^_^
What makes you an expert in your blog’s niche?
Well, I’m still in the process of learning. I am passionate about lifestyle, travel, pop-culture and edutainment. My passion for these four niches makes me motivated to read, do research, study more, and share my knowledge about these for niches with my readers.
How often do you post on your blog?
I believe twice a week is the best for me. I also need time to engage with my readers as well.
Do you ever feature other bloggers on your site?
Yes. I have a Bookworm Interview series on my blog. This interview series is special for bloggers or any bookworms who are interested to share their reading passion and wants to be feature on my blog. I usually published this interview series once a month.
So far, I have interviewed five bloggers for this Bookworm Interview Series. The reason I created this interview series is for myself to get to know other bookworms like me, share passion, and opinions on books. Plus, I also want to learn about the reading culture in other countries.
If there’s any bookworm reading this post, and interested to participate in the interview series, you can email me at fadimamooneira@yahoo.com ^_^ I will be happy to feature you on my blog.
How have you promoted your blog? What has worked best? What has failed?
I promoted my blog by joining blogger communities on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. I also participated in the communities activities like comment exchange and cross-promotional programs. Besides joining communities, I also contributed articles to other blogs and websites, and joined bloggers interview series like this one ^_^. I also used WhatsApp, Telegram, and LiNe to promote my blog.
What’s the best review/compliment that you’ve received about your blog?
Most of my readers said that my blog is a platform for them to learn about Asian pop-culture, celebrities, and books. Most of my readers also said that my content is very unique and interesting. I am very grateful with the compliments I received so far. I will use these compliments to improve my blog better. Thank you dearies. I love you all ^_^
How active are you in the online blogging community? How has this community helped you as a blogger?
I am very active in joining blogging communities. I also participate in most activities that the communities organised. Joining these communities help me to improve my blog traffic, make my blog visible to readers, help me with the SEO, and networking with bloggers around the world. My top three favourite blogging communities right now are TRJ For Bloggers, Blogging Babes, and Malaysia Lifestyle Bloggers. These three communities organised the best blogging activities for bloggers. I highly recommend most bloggers to join these three communities.
What is the most fun part about writing? The most difficult?
The most fun part about writing is that you are able to express your opinion and share your imaginations with other people. It also helps you to reduce your anxiety (not able to share imaginations with other people makes my anxiety really high), and enhances your confidence.
The most difficult part is editing of course. I downloaded Grammarly on my laptop to help me with my writings. And sometimes get my mother to help me with the editing. My mother is a skilful editor.
What is your favorite post that you’ve written? Which one is the most successful?
My favourite blog post is FADIMA MOONEIRA’S LIST: 10 Hottest Asian Actors of 2019. Besides sharing my list of 10 hottest Asian actors, I also shared my illustrations of the actors in this post. This post makes my readers notice my passion in drawing. Please feel free to check it out.
But my most successful post at the time being is FIVE THINGS THAT MAKES IU THE MOST BEAUTIFUL GIRL IN THE WORLD. I wrote this post one year ago. But it is still the most view post on my blog. Maybe it’s because this post is love by IU’s (South Korean Singer, Songwriter, and Actress) fans. Thank you fellow Uaena for promoting this post.
