My First Book
One day when I was five years old, I decided that I was going to write a book about dinosaurs. Not knowing how to read yet, I had to ask my parents to spell out every word that I wanted to say. I used special notebook paper, the type with lines on the bottom to practice writing your letters and blank space at the top for illustrations.
Before long, I had a fully illustrated book about dinosaurs with my name on the byline. The book was then hole punched together and bound in orange yarn. Only two copies ever existed in the world: my first draft and my second draft. They are listed as missing, as extinct as the subject itself. So, if you ever find one, hold onto it. It could be worth a fortune one day.
School and Work
After my manuscripts went “missing,” I turned to fiction writing, filling dozens of notebooks over the years with short stories, novellas, and poetry. In between graduating from Carlow University in 2007 and landing my first job at an insurance broker’s administrative office, I began work on my first novel, a middle grade tale encouraged by a professor who suggested I take a short story I had written for her class and turn it into a novel.
Two more novels followed, all which were eventually self-published via CreateSpace where I spent years in a trial-and-error method of marketing self-published novels. You can find links and descriptions in these book in the My Books and Writing section of my blog.

My Blogging History
In between these projects, I blogged for several websites. Most recently, I’m writing for HubPages, with over 200 blog posts to my name. Many of those posts are indie author interviews where self-published authors like me answered questions about their craft. You may see some of their work in my guest articles section. Be sure to check out their books too.

LBB and Freelance Work
As I continue writing novels and blogs, I’ve decided to try to break into the freelance writing industry. It also felt like the right time to start a writing blog in order to have a place to archive my work and help promote the work of my fellow indie authors. I’ve come a long way over the years, dabbling in various forms of writing, and I’m looking for a change that helps to draw in readers and share what I’ve learned with the writing world.
While writing will be my number one subject, I’ll also be sharing some of my other interests on this site, such as movies, art, and personal stories. I’m going to start slow, and see where it goes.
Thanks for visiting, and feel free to stay awhile and look around!
